Vigil is built out of other people's work. This page names all of it, with the licence each piece is used under.

The photograph

Behind every page: Westerhever Nordostblick, by Richard Bartz, taken 2013-10-04, used under CC BY-SA 3.0. Found on Wikimedia Commons on 2026-09-19. Because the licence is ShareAlike, the version of the photograph this site serves is available under the same licence.

What we changed: scaled to 2400 and 1280 px wide, blurred 1 px, saturation ×1.06; nothing else. There is no image library on this machine; tools/make-ground.mjs does it in Chrome's own canvas. The 10,000 × 5,427 original is never served.

Why this one: Westerhever lighthouse on the salt marsh of Eiderstedt, with the two keepers’ cottages at its foot, under a wide autumn sky. A lighthouse is a watch kept for years by someone who may never see who it saves — the product in one picture — and the cottages are the home it keeps. First choice was cand-17 (Kjeungskjær, an orange tower alone at sea); it measured dark (median L 0.18) and more than twice the reference’s texture (busy 16.9), which would have made a dark, busy page. This one measured light (median 0.29), calm (busy 5.8) and strongly coloured (chroma 0.084). The measurement verified; it did not choose.

  • Social Recovery Module (v0.0.1) by CANDIDE Labs — GPL-3.0, audited by Ackee Blockchain. The hand-over, with its 7 days in which the owner can cancel. Found already deployed on this chain.
  • Morpho Blue by Morpho Labs — not used to lend here: its markets are how Robinhood's price feeds are discovered, since feeds are not enumerable.
  • Robinhood Chain's price feeds — the feeds Robinhood publishes for its own tokenized stocks, which this site values holdings with.
  • Multicall3 by mds1 and contributors — how Vigil reads many values in one request.
  • ethers.js 6.13.5 by Richard Moore — MIT licence, shipped in /vendor.
  • Blockscout — the explorer whose verified sources were read to build against the contracts as deployed, rather than as documented.

The one contract Vigil adds is Vigil itself (contracts/Vigil.sol, MIT), which has no owner and holds nothing. It is not audited.
